First introduced in London on 19 November 1996 by Habanos, S.A., the Cuaba brand was the first new Cuban cigar to be introduced into commercial production since 1968. The name of Cuaba cigars is very old, and dates back to the times of the early Cuban settlers. Cuaba is the Indian word for the special Cuban bush used to light the "Cohiba" or "Tobacco" on the Island. This type of tree, featured by its excellent burning properties, is still grown in the country.
Cuaba cigars are well-known for their pleasant aroma and enticing dark gray color which is pointed in both ends, whereby they became known as figurados (torpedo-shaped cigars). All four of the Cuaba vitoles: the Exclusivos, the Generosos, the Tradicionales and the Divinos are in the figurado (perfecto) shape. They are offered in traditional boxes of 25 cigars.
