Philip Morris U.S.A. Applauds MDL Order

The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation today granted a request by Philip Morris U.S.A. and other companies to transfer all federal court cases filed by foreign governments seeking health care cost reimbursement to a single federal court in Washing

"We asked the panel to take this step to insure that all pretrial discovery and other proceedings in these extraordinary and unique cases are transferred to a single judge," said Gregory Little, associate general counsel for Philip Morris. "We believe strongly that these cases have no basis in law or fact and that consolidation should expedite their ultimate dismissal."
